Lois Mary Larsen Gardner Cox, of Orem, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2014 surrounded by her loving children. She was just three days shy of her 90th birthday. She was born November 15, 1924 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah and was the third of five children born to Jens Wilford Larsen and Mary Myrtle Marx Larsen. She married Earl Blaine Gardner in 1941. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. Blaine passed away in September 1955. On October 15, 1959, she married her sweetheart Martin Sidney Cox in Las Vegas, Nevada. They settled and raised their family in Orem. Martin passed away in August 1993. Lois was raised and attended schools in Mt. Pleasant, Utah and nursing school at the Utah Trade Technical Institute in Provo. She worked as a secretary at a car dealership and was later employed as a lunch worker for Alpine School District. She also sewed intricate dresses for Kami Dolls. Later on, she served as a volunteer at Orem Community Hospital. The most important job to her was that of homemaker, wife, and mother. She was the sweetest, most kind and loving mother and grandmother and cherished every moment spent with her family. Lois was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in both stake and ward callings in Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society. In her later years, she enjoyed serving in the German Extraction Program. She was a member of the Lady Lions Service Club in Salem, Utah. In addition, she was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She also enjoyed being part of the AWOL (Awesome Women Out to Lunch) Club. Lois was an accomplished seamstress. She was also skilled at crocheting, knitting, quilting, and candy making. She loved traveling with her family. Lois is survived by her son, Dennis (Venna) Gardner of Centerfield, Utah and daughters Alene (Jim) Crystal, Nadine (Richard) Steffens, Lisa (Rodney) Pulham all of Orem, Utah, and Laura (Scott) Robbins of Lindon, Utah. She was grandmother to 24 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren , and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sister Darlene Olsen and sisters-in-law Leah Larsen and Ina Larsen. She is preceded in death by her husbands Earl Blaine Gardner and Martin Sidney Cox, her parents Jens Wilford and Mary Myrtle Larsen, her brothers Russell Larsen, Sheldon Larsen, and Lloyd Larsen, and grandchildren Gary Gardner, Wesley Gardner, Tyson Nay, and Kerry Crystal. A special thank you to her dear friend and neighbor Edna Harding, who so lovingly helped care for her and to the Peaks Rehabilitation Center for the tender care given to our sweet mother and grandmother. She loved you all dearly. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 17, 2014 at the Lakeridge 8th Ward chapel, 80 West 900 South, Orem, Utah at 1:00 p.m. A viewing will be held Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Sundberg-Olpin Funeral Home 495 South State Street, Orem, Utah from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and also on Monday prior to the services from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Internment will be in the Provo City Cemetery.
