Leroy Darling Iii

Leroy Warren Darling III, 76, Orem, UT passed away on Tuesday, March 28th peacefully in his home due to kidney and heart failure.

He was born February 15, 1943 in Le Grande Oregon to the proud parents Leroy Warren Darling II & Francis Willard Abbott Darling. He was the 3rd of 6 children. He was a 1961 graduate of Manteca Union High School (where he held a state record in swimming) and later attended College in Western State Colorado University and BYU.

He served in the Army in 1966 with Company B, 1st Battalion, 3rd Brigade where he majored in music. He was honorably discharged in 1969. On June 13th 1970 he married Bonnie Mae Sullivan in the Oakland LDS temple.

He worked for the Valley Transportation Authority where he enjoyed meeting patrons. He was forced to retire in his early 40's due to complications from diabetes causing him to become legally blind. He had a love for his family, friends, and his savior Jesus. He was a deep thinker and could talk religion for hours.

Leroy loved meeting new people and brightening people’s day with his jokes, quick wit, and inappropriate comments. Some of the things we will never forget from his saying are “Have I dated you before?” and “You get prettier every time I see you." He lived to watch BYU, 49er's, Giants, and the Warriors. He loved to drink Diet Sodas, Chinese food, cookies, and going out to eat with his family.

He is survived by his spouse Bonnie Darling, his children, Leroy Warren Darling IV and Patricia Marie Darling, Deborah Ann Darling, Brenda Downey-Marie Darling, and Don Gardner Darling. His grandchildren, Trey Allan Darling, Caden Lee Darling, and Kaylee Marie Darling. His mother Francis Willard Darling. His siblings Adelaide Avery, Brenda Crockett, Teddie Darling, Suzanne Darling and Don Darling.

He is preceded in death by his sister Adelaide Avery, father Leroy Warren Darling II, and brother Don Darling.

State St. Orem, UT 84058. For those of you that wish to join in celebrating Leroy Darling III life, the service will be held on Friday, May 31st 2019. Viewing 10 a.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary followed by the Graveside service 11 a.m. in the Orem Cemetery 1520 N. 800 E. Orem, UT 84097.
