Lavon Carling Allen, beloved and cherished husband of Nan, wonderful and loving father of Conrad and Caitlin, and doting and adoring grandpa to Wynnie, Tallie, Ellie, Addy, & Jack, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, October 23, 2015, of cancer. He was born to Carling and Carma Allen in Gunnison, Utah, on May 17, 1959. He was an active, energetic boy during his childhood, not letting two open-heart surgeries, at ages 2 and 12, slow him down. He spent his first ten years in Circleville, Utah, and then moved to Orem. He graduated from Orem High School in 1977 and served in the Michigan Dearborn Mission from 1978 to 1980. He met his eternal sweetheart, Nan Robin Anderson, while attending BYU and they were married in the Manti Utah Temple on June 12, 1981. They are a perfect team, and he provided her with a beautiful life full of love, comfort, safety, humor, complete trust, wonderful memories and lots of love! He was a cabinetmaker, a mail carrier, and then carried on his father's business at Unidine Suspended Seating (Seating Innovations). He built their beautiful home in Orem, complete with hand-crafted cabinets and furniture, creating a safe haven for us. He enjoyed caring for his yard and gardens. He was funny and always quick to add an approving smile. He has an unwavering testimony of our Savior and served lovingly in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a primary teacher, home teacher, young men's leader, cubmaster, scoutmaster, bishop, and high councilman. We know he is continuing to love and serve and preparing for when we will join him. He is survived by his wife, Nan Allen, their son, Conrad & Donica Allen of Mesquite, Nevada, and their daughter Caitlin & Chad Gallegos of Springville, Utah, and their five grandchildren, Aeowyn, Taliesyn, Elianwyn, Addy, and Jack. He is also survived by his brother and sisters, Bruce & Laura Allen, Darlynn & Larry Tolman, Jeannine & Dave Thomas, Nanette & Steve Averett, Minon & Tom Smith, Thalia & Marty Mansfield, Patrice & Ken Bretschneider, and Elise & Rich Warner, as well as Nan's father, Ernel Anderson, and her brothers and sisters, Mitzi & Kurt Cox, Mark Anderson, Kim & Jamie Anderson, Eric Anderson, Jan & Kristin Anderson, Keri and Nathan Guinn, and wads of nieces and nephews who consider him their favorite uncle. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carling & Carma, and his sisters, Lynette and Carol, and Nan's mother, Ellna Anderson. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2015, at 2:00 pm at the Geneva Heights Stake Center, 546 North 500 West in Orem. There will be a viewing Wednesday evening from 6:30 - 8:30 pm at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street in Orem, and at the Geneva Heights Stake Center on Thursday from 12:30 - 1:45 pm. Interment will be at the Orem Cemetery.
