Lanell Read

LaNell Hooper Read age 83 passed away peacefully on April 3, 2016. LaNell was born in Kelsey, TX on June 30, 1932 to William Harvey Hooper and Early Belle Bryant. At an early age she moved from Texas to Star Valley, WY. Later she moved to Ogden, UT. She graduated from Ogden High School and later from Thomas-Dee Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. Her nursing career spanned many years and served her well. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a graduate of both Seminary and Institute. She held many callings in the church over her lifetime.. Throughout her life she was found in service either through her church callings and her nursing opportunities and above all she loved and served her family. She will be remembered always by her children and grandchildren with love and respect for her great example. She is survived by a brother, Eldon Hooper (Marjorie), Logan, UT, a step-sister, MaryLou Johnson (Bud), Salt Lake City, UT; two sons, Dan Wayne Clark (Joy) Elk Grove, CA; William D. Biggerstaff (Cari) Lehi, UT; and a daughter, Donnell Fischl, Salt Lake City, UT. She is also survived by her two sister-in laws; Clixie Hooper, Twin Falls, ID and Sybil Hooper Hurricane, UT. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, all whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, two brothers, Alton Bob Hooper and Donald Hooper, and a sister, Cheryl Taylor and a brother-in-law, Bill Taylor In lieu of flowers LaNell requested that donations be made to either the Temple Fund or Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The family wishes to extend great thanks and appreciation to care givers at Orchard Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing, Lacy, Meri, Blaine, Cortney, Lori and Jessica. Also her hospice nurses, Shelly and Nate from Envision Hospice and Rebecca from Canyon Hospice. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 12 Noon in the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary chapel, 495 S. State St., Orem, UT. A viewing will be held Saturday, from 11 to 11:45 a.m. at the mortuary, prior to the services. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
