Lamar Olsen

1930-2018

Lamar Rees Olsen 88 of Provo, Utah passed away Tuesday June 26th 2018. Born February 14, 1930 in Monroe, Utah to Emma Caroline Anderton and Nephi Bernhardt Olsen. He married June Cordner on August 27th 1948 in Orem, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized December 10th 1963 in the Manti temple. June preceded him in death on March 13th 2013. Lamar lived in Richfield and Provo, graduating from Provo High in 1948.

He was a machinist with Geneva Steel for thirty-eight years. He served in many capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a loving father who taught the value of hard work, integrity, responsibility and self reliance. His quick wit and happy nature will be missed by those who knew him. He is survived by his sister, Norma Mae Mangum, Salt Lake City; children Gary (Colleen) Roswell, GA; Michael (Debbie) Orem, UT; Kelly (Arlene), Provo, UT; Annette Elmer (Mark) Eagle Mountain, UT and Jeffrey (Janalyn), Provo. He had nineteen grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Preceded in death by his wife June, Brother Wayne and sisters Nial, Helen and Ganell and great grandchild Abraham Olsen. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday June 29th at Olpin Sundberg Mortuary 495 S State Street in Orem. A viewing will be held 6:30 — 8:00 pm Thursday June 28th and one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Orem City cemetery.
