Kirk Harrison

March 3, 1955 — September 1, 2017

Kirk Dee Harrison, age 62, of Orem, Utah County, Utah, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, September 1, 2017. He was born on March 3, 1955, in Logan, Cache County, Utah to Blair Herbert Harrison and Barbara Jeanne Kirk. He married Julieta Gomez Garcia on November 15, 2003 in McAllen, Hidalgo County, Texas, and they were sealed for time and all eternity on March 3, 2012 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. He is preceded in death by his oldest brother, Blair Eugene Harrison.

Kirk graduated from Mitchell High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado. At the age of 19, he was called to serve in the Florida Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and assigned to Puerto Rico. Kirk enjoyed working in the LDS Church his whole life, including Boy Scouts, young men’s, bishoprics, high council, and many other capacities. He loved the whole thing, continually.  He had three children from his first marriage with Maria Elizabeth Gutierrez Ayala. He later married Julieta Gomez Garcia, and between them they raised ten children. Kirk worked for Albertsons as front end manager for 25 years, and then served ten years with the Department of Homeland Security under the Transportation Security Administration as a supervisor for both Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) and Wendover Airport (ENV); and in both organizations received national recognition for his abilities as manager. It is less well known that he did private investigative work for many attorneys in Utah, and that he was an interpreter for professional companies.

Kirk is remembered with love by his wife of 14 years, Julieta Gomez Garcia; his children Maria Barbara Harrison, Kirk Dee Harrison II, and Earlene Rebeckah Harrison; his step-children Ana Priscila Celestino Gomez, Tulsy Gabriela Celestino Gomez, Ashley Thalia Celestino Gomez, and Francisco Javier Celestino Gomez; his step-nieces, who were also his children, Pamela Nieto Gomez, Michelle Angelica Nieto Gomez, and Silvia Alejandra Nieto Gomez; his grandchildren Maria Quiahuixochitl Harrison, Kathryn Elizabeth Tyler, Sam Jay Harrison, Jonah Wes Harrison, Ira Shem Harrison, Clara June Harrison, Ariana Yatzil Caceres, Ezra Julio Caceres, Ilya Mei Caceres, Olivia Elena Hoerner, Ema Lulu Hoerner, Desmond Lucas Hoerner, Gabriel Anthony Reyes, Liam Alexander Reyes, Damian Axel Reyes, and Kai Asher Reyes; his parents Blair Herbert Harrison and Barbara Jeanne Kirk; and his brothers Alan Dale Harrison, Paul Edward Harrison, and Kris Herbert Harrison.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 6:30 PM at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 S State Street, Orem, Utah. A viewing for friends and family will be held the same day and place starting two hours prior to the funeral service, at 4:30 PM. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery, 1520 800 E, Orem, UT 84097, on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 11:00 AM.

Kirk era un gran hombre que conocía la grandeza de Dios en su vida, y por esa razón siempre tenía palabras de aliento y apoyo para todos aquellos que lo necesitaran y para quienes él quería.

Kirk always put others first. Though in his final years he was in great pain due to his many health issues, he was always attentive to the needs of others, and he took special care in opening the door for his beloved wife. He loved all ten of his children equally and greatly. He loved and admired his mommy and dad. His siblings were his best friends, and he considered his friends to be brothers and sisters. He loved and served the Lord all of his days.

We appreciate the outpouring of love, support, and service that has been given to our family at this time.

Kirk was well loved by all who knew him, and we will miss him.

Condolences may be expressed to the family here on his page.
