Kenneth Thomas Watson, 94, of Orem, passed away at his home on Saturday, February 26, 2022. He was born July 24, 1927, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lawrence Watson and Amelia Bernice Thomas Watson. He married MaNon Jensen on August 31, 1946. They were married for 75 years.
Kenneth served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific theater from 1943 through 1946. He was forever impacted by the war he witnessed firsthand. He worked for the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad for 35 years retiring in 1985 as an agent in Provo. He was active in the LDS Church and served in many positions. He liked hunting, fishing, and camping on “the mountain.” He loved to travel with family and friends. He and MaNon traveled extensively around the U.S. and Canada, oftentimes pulling their trailer. He was the ultimate handyman and possessed a great willingness to help others. He was an excellent father and grandfather with a passion to spend time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, MaNon of Orem; his children, Kerry (Tafta) Watson of Fillmore, Utah; Kim (Jane) Watson of Orem, Utah; Brad (Kristie) Watson of Orem, Utah; Kristine (Ramon) Castillo of Kaysville, Utah; 19 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; and a sister, Shirley Kruta of Minnesota. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, two brothers, and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the Timpanogos Park 3rd Ward Chapel located at 1000 North Main Street, Orem, Utah. A viewing for friends and family will be held Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Sundberg Olpin Mortuary located at 495 South State Street in Orem and on Saturday just prior to the services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery with full military rites.
