Keith Nielsen (91) passed away on November 24, 2023. Keith was born in Ephraim, Sanpete County, Utah on July 29, 1932. Followed right after by his twin brother Kenneth. His parents were Cyrus Otto Nielsen Sr. and Alta Ella Michaelsen Nielsen.
The family moved to Salt Lake City when Keith was 3 ½ years old. He grew up on the Avenues and attended Longfellow Elementary, Bryant Junior High and graduated from East High School. He was active in football and baseball.
He and Ken went into the Army for the Korean War, October 1952 and was honorably discharged in 1955. He met his future wife Mae Anderson in his home ward, and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on September 12, 1955, by Elder LeGrande Richards.
He then worked several jobs until becoming a Salt Lake City Policeman for 5 years. He then was a claims adjuster and when that ended, he became a Orem City Policeman. After doing that for three years, he had the opportunity to go to work for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and set up their newly created position as head of security. He worked closely with several of the prophets especially President Spencer W. Kimball who he was able to accompany to an Area Conference in Sweden which included travel to England, Finland, and Denmark.
Keith always had a calling in his ward in the various organizations and in the Stake. He and Mae served in the Lakeridge Family History Center for 10 years.
Preceded in death by his parents and siblings Cyrus Otto, Jr. (Neva-living), Carl Phillip, (Norma), Wanda Lucille (Dale LeCheminant), and Kenneth (Carmela).
Survived by wife, Mae, sons David Evan (Pineau) and Gregory Keith (Nancy) 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 2 great greats.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Orem 4th Ward, 50 South 800 East, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with a funeral to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Orem City Cemetery with military rites.
