Kathleen Marie Shaw

Kathleen Marie Shaw, age 73, passed away on December 18, 2024, in Orem, Utah. Kathleen was born January 29, 1951, in Gunnison, Colorado, to Lloyd and Margaret (Hals) Towner. Kathleen graduated from Gunnison High School and attended Western State College and Brigham Young University. Kathleen first met Grover Shaw when he was returning a horse to Kathleen’s father. They dated and were married and sealed for eternity in the Manti, Utah temple. 

Grover and Kathleen raised their seven children in Gunnison, Colorado; Paonia, Colorado; and Springville, Utah. One of the primary ways that Kathleen showed her love was through her delicious cooking and wonderful baked goods. Kathleen loved to quilt, and she made quilts for each of her children’s and her grandchildren’s weddings. She also enjoyed spending her time researching and learning about her ancestors. Her family was the most important thing in Kathleen’s life. She taught her children that integrity and hard work were essential character traits. She and Grover created a home full of love and centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Margaret (Hals) Towner, and her brother Richard Towner. She is survived by her husband, Grover Shaw, and her seven children: William (Julie) Shaw of Flowery Branch, Georgia; John (Cynthia) Shaw of Jonesburg, Missouri; Daniel (Heather) Shaw of Pinehurst, North Carolina; Sarah (Charles) Grunig of Meridian, Idaho; Clayton (Amber) Shaw of Meridian, Idaho; Suzannah (Benjamin) Beasley of American Fork, Utah; and Karen (Justin) Showell of American Fork, Utah; and her brother Mark Towner of Payette, Idaho; 28 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Her family continues to expand. Kathleen loves her family and knows that families can be together for eternity. 

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 95 North 600 West, Orem, Utah 84057. A viewing will precede the funeral services at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the American Fork Cemetery.
