Judith Lynn Williamson

February 1, 1942 — October 13, 2024

Spanish Fork

Judith (Judy) Lynn Williamson peacefully passed through the veil on Sunday, October 13, 2024, in Spanish Fork, Utah, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on February 1, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan to James and Anna Luxon. She was the oldest of three children. As a young girl Judy became interested in riding horses. After a lot of hard work and planning by her parents, they purchased The Farm where many happy memories were made riding horses and playing outdoors with family and friends. She loved animals of all kinds. Many summers of her childhood were spent at The Cottage in Grand Bend Ontario, Canada. Along with her siblings, Larry and Janet, many lifelong friendships were made. The shores of Lake Huron were her happy place. She shared her love of The Farm and Cottage with her children and it became our favorite places as well. Many family memories have been shared and made in both of these special places.

Judy graduated from Holly High School in 1960. She later went to school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. After moving to Utah, she attended BYU and obtained her Registered Nursing degree. She worked hard to achieve this goal while raising young children. She worked for many years at Utah Valley Hospital and then the Utah State Hospital where she retired after 25 years of dedicated service.

After retirement, Judy was able to devote more time to the Sheltie dog organizations and clubs she was active in for many years. She was very involved in dog shows and enjoyed the relationships she made within this community. Her dogs brought her tremendous joy and companionship throughout the years. When her health declined and she no longer could care for her dogs, loving members of the Sheltie community stepped in and cared for Callie and Tuffy and provided regular updates and pictures. Judy was very thankful for this.

Judy enjoyed reading, fresh garden tomatoes, studying French, John Denver music, playing scrabble and doing family history. She loved a good joke and pulling off a sneaky prank. She maintained a garden for many years and enjoyed canning her harvest and making homemade jam. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed teaching her kids how to cook. Mom was dearly loved and will be missed.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved the temple and served faithfully for many years in the Provo temple. She spent hours and hours doing family history and felt such a responsibility to this work. She had a strong testimony of the Gospel which carried her through many of the challenges she faced in her life.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, James Ernest and Anna Leona Luxon, brother-in-law Keith Cousins and granddaughter Caitlynn Chadwick. We are comforted knowing she is reunited with loved ones.

She is survived by her sister, Janet Cousins and brother, Larry (Sue) Luxon. Her children, Erin (Darren) Carson, Heidi (Keith) Chadwick, Jon (Erika) Williamson, Lisa (Eric) Wilkey, James Williamson and Robert Williamson; 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Our family would like to thank Hearthstone Manor and the entire staff for the loving care provided to our Mom over the past several years. In particular, we sincerely thank Valarie for the love and compassionate care she offered during Mom’s final days. We also thank Utah Valley Home Health and Hospice for the service rendered to our Mom. Harley for her weekly care and love shown to Mom and then to Kelly for walking us through Mom’s final couple of days.
