George Walter Flesch, Jr. passed away in his home on Wednesday, June 25, 2014. George was born August 27, 1921 in San Francisco, California to George Walter Felsch and Agnes Marthine Hansen.
He graduated from BYU with a BA in Political Science, and then did graduate work at USC in Public Administration.
He married Pauline Hanks in the Sale Lake Temple, May 29, 1953. They were blessed with 5 children; Karen, Brian, Warren, Cheryl (deceased), and Joanne. They have 25 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 3 more on the way.
During WW2 he served in the US Navy as a pilot, instructing instrument flying. His occupation was that of City Manager or City Administrator. He worked in the cities of Gardena, California; Helena, Montana; Milton-Freewater, Oregon; Sidney, Nebraska; Seward, Nebraska; Ionia, Michigan; Commerce City, Colorado; Lafayette, Colorado; Valdez, Alaska and Gunnison, Colorado.
For much of his life he served in Scouting. IN 2001 he received a Silver Beaver Award. He has been active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints all his life and has served in many capacities, some of which are; Serving a mission to Denmark in his youth. He was an early morning seminary teacher. He was the President of the West Nebraska District. He was a bishop of the Grand Rapids 2nd Ward. He was 2nd counselor in the Denver North Stake Presidency. He served an additional mission with his wife Pauline to the Dominican Republic Santiago mission. They both served together in the Provo temple as ordinance works. Memorial services will be held 10:00a.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2014 at the Timpview 5th Ward building. 865 West 100 North, Orem, UT. Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Larkin Sunset Memorial; 2350 East 13th South; Salt Lake City, UT. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation to the missionary fund for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or your favorite charity would be appropriate.
