Jolet Johnston Bullock, 74, passed away on July 19, 2020 in Orem, Utah after a brief illness. She was born January 16, 1946 in San Diego, California as Sharon Ann Mehner and was later adopted by Dellmer and Marguerite Davis Johnston. On December 25, 1964 she married Dean C. Bullock in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their marriage was solemnized in the Oakland, California temple in 1966. They divorced in 1979.
Raised an only child, she desired to have a big family – and boy did she! During the first ten years of marriage she had nine children: Annette, Robert, William, Marnet, Dean, Cynthia, Richard, Brenda, and Darla. After divorcing, she later went on to have two more children: Trent and Vanessa. From her 11 children she was blessed with 37 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
In truth, her family was much larger than that. Although she worked in various industries outside of the home it was the work she did inside her home as a mother, grandmother and daycare provider that made the greatest impact. She became a second mom/grandmother to dozens of children. No matter where she lived, she was the “neighborhood mom.” Her home and heart was opened to everyone and her house was always full of children. Countless troubled and wayward teens counted on her to be their safe haven when they felt they had no one else to turn to. It wasn’t always fun or easy but we are incredibly proud of her for the legacy of love and acceptance she leaves behind.
Aside from her love for people, she loved to roller skate (which she always did backwards, very fast, and VERY well), listening to AC/DC, and crocheting (consider yourself fortunate if she ever made you a blanket). Her favorite color was purple. She was quick-witted, endlessly sarcastic, fiercely protective, and generous. She is loved and will be missed more than can be put into words.
She is survived by her children: daughter, Annette Ivie of Orem, Utah; son, Rob Bullock of Jacksonville, Florida; son, Willie (Michelle) Bullock of Provo, Utah; daughter, Marnet (Tim) Schmall of Provo, Utah; son, Dino Bullock of Orem, Utah; daughter, Cindy Martinez (Lynn Cook) of Woods Cross, Utah; son, Rick Bullock of Nome, Alaska; daughter, Brenda (William) Dudley of Orem, Utah; daughter, Darla (Dennis) Montag of Orem, Utah; son, Trent Bullock of Provo, Utah; daughter, Vanessa Lott of Provo, Utah; 34 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her parents and three grandchildren: Alexandria, Robert II, and Alysa.
The family would like to express our appreciation to the doctors and nurses who provided excellent and compassionate care for our mom and for their patience with us during these difficult times. Additionally, we would like to thank our extended family and friends for their support and help in our time of need.
