Jerry Lowe

October 27, 1950 — July 16, 2017

Jerry Morris Lowe, a.k.a. Jear Bear and Costco King, 66, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all, died peacefully on July 16, 2017, in Orem, Utah.  He was born October 27, 1950, in Roosevelt, Utah, to Richard Holling Lowe and Barbara Rasmussen Lowe.  He married Sandra Louder on November 19, 1971, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.

Jerry grew up in a very musically inclined family.  From a young age, he played the trombone and performed with his mother and six brothers in The Lowe Family Band which played at various dances throughout Utah. He attended Dixie College on a music scholarship and later attended Brigham Young University studying Business Administration. While raising his family in California, he performed in the Diablo Valley Symphony.  He worked as an insurance agent for most of his life, and also operated his own agency with partner Bill Richards.  He loved his family more than anything.  He was a kind husband, father, and grandfather who will always be remembered for his iconic phrases such as “Who loves you? I do”, “Choose your friends wisely”, and “How do you spell relief? P-R-A-Y-E-R”.  He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and as a young adult served a full-time mission in the Kentucky-Tennessee mission.  He also lovingly served as a home teacher, youth Sunday School teacher, and as a Ward chorister. He loved the Gospel and had a strong testimony of the Savior. He was an avid reader and movie buff who particularly enjoyed history, politics, and SCI-FI.  He also loved his cars and motorcycles.

Jerry is survived by his spouse Sandra, his four children: J.J. (Heather) of Clovis, California; Kevin (Stephanie) of Rochester, Michigan; Melodee (Jared) of Ammon, Idaho; Kimberlee (Soren) of Provo, Utah; and 24 grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and two grandchildren, Hannah and Kevin.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 21, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the Suncrest Stake Center Chapel, 90 N 600 W, Orem, Utah.  A viewing for friends and family will be held Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.  Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.  We appreciate the outpouring of love, support, and service that has been given to our family at this time.

Condolence may be left for the family on this page.
