Jeffrey Allen Hillstrom passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 16, 2016. He was born on April 2, 1949, in Ogden, Utah to Byron Kay and Audrey Almeda Allen Hillstrom, the second of five children, and grew up in Ogden, Utah. He served full-time in the Arizona mission of the LDS Church in 1970-1971, and later served in the U.S. Navy from 1972-1977. While stationed in San Diego, Jeff met and married Leslie Thurman on August 24, 1973 in the Salt Lake Temple. He then graduated from Brigham Young University in Electrical Technology and spent his career in computer engineering. Jeff was known as a man of great faith and much service. He was talented and possessed many skills. He quietly, faithfully, and steadfastly worked on behalf of others, happily placing their needs before his own, and developed a reputation for being able to fix anything. Jeff was quick to notice a need and to fill it. He lived true and faithful to the Lord and strived to be like Him. Quick with a kind word, Jeff served, reached out, and connected to others-even strangers-selflessly throughout his life, never tiring of doing good works. Courageously defending what was right and true, when necessary, he was also a great example of Christ-like love to all around him. His gentleness, love, and happy spirit will be missed, but will live on forever in the hearts of those he touched. Jeff enjoyed being out-of-doors in nature, researching family history, traveling, camping, fishing, golfing, learning, working in his garden, and above all, spending time with his family. Jeff is a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his wife Leslie, siblings Steven (Denise), Jodie (Lynn, deceased) Ward, Gina (Steve) Gleason, Michael (Cindy); children, Daniel (Emily), Rebecca (Jeffrey) Cardon, Emily (Gary) Fullmer, Lori (Geoffrey) Hack, Scott (Heidi); and fifteen beautiful grandchildren whom he adored. A viewing will be held January 22, from 6:30-8:30pm at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 S. State St., Orem, Utah. Funeral services will be held at the LDS Chapel, 500 S. 600 W., Orem, Utah on Saturday, January 23rd, at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing from 9:00-10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the General Missionary fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
