Jean Dunford
July 9, 1932 — June 13, 2017
Our Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother completed her earthly mission on June 13, 2017, and peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father.
Jean Irene Dunford was born July 9, 1932, to Washington Raleigh Nebeker and Gladys Irene Atkinson in Gusher, Utah. She had six sisters and one brother, all who preceded her in death. She married her eternal sweetheart James Douglas Dunford on July 13, 1951. They were later sealed in the Los Angeles Temple on June 28, 1957. Jim passed away earlier this year in March.
Jean is survived by her children Leslee Dunford Miller of Springville, Utah; Randall Jay Dunford (Vicki) of Lehi, Utah; James Russell Dunford (Randy) of Lehi, Utah; and daughter-in-law Cindy Dunford of Orem, Utah. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Teri Dunford, and her son, Ronald Douglas Dunford. She had twelve wonderful grandchildren and twenty-one great- grandchildren. Jean loved her family thoroughly and enjoyed being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Jim and Jean raised their family in the San Francisco, California Bay area. Jean was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many church positions in her life time. She was the Stake Young Women’s president, Relief Society counselor, Primary teacher, Primary counselor, Primary president, Sunday School teacher, and always a great visiting teacher. In Utah, she served with her husband as branch president at the Provo MTC and as a service missionary at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City. She loved Utah and was happy when they moved back in 1986.
The family would like to thank Bel Aire Assisted Living in Orem, Osmond Senior Living, and Valeo Home Health and Hospice for their tender care of Jean during her final months.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 17, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the Orchard Stake Center LDS Chapel located at 810 East 600 North, Orem, Utah. A viewing will be held just prior to the service at the church from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
