Janet Rhoades

Janet LuAnn Barnes Rhoades, 78, of Orem, died October 16, 2017.

Janet was born in Heber, Utah, to James Lindsay Barnes and Clara LaPreal North Barnes. She was the seventh of nine children. She worked alongside her brothers and sisters in the family business and enjoyed that experience very much. She learned to drive truck and operate equipment but ended up being a homemaker.

She married her sweetheart Eugene Richard Rhoades of Lakeview and settled down in Orem to raise a family. Richard and Janet had two boys and a girl: James Eugene, Roxie LuAnn and Kevin Richard. Janet carefully nurtured her family and reveled in the family outings to the mountains. Hunting and camping were always a priority but family, friends and neighbors in need were a higher priority.

Janet was a bowler, seamstress, lunch lady and homemaker but her passion was quilting.  She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings and her sweetheart Richard. She is survived by her three children, 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the LDS Chapel at 450 South 100 West, Orem, Utah. Viewings will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary at 495 South State, Orem, Utah, and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the services. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery
