James Wardle

Our beloved son and brother James Russell Wardle unexpectedly passed away in a go-kart accident on Saturday, November 13th, 2021. James was surrounded by family and returned to his Heavenly Father peacefully. James was born on October 1st, 2007 in Murray, Utah to his parents Jeremy and Rebecca Wardle. He is survived by his parents, siblings: Emma, Abby, Jacob, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

James had a sense of humor and made those around him smile. He was a relentless tease, who loved to laugh, and had a hard time staying mad at anyone for very long. James did not like to clean or do mindless chores.  He was an intellectual, an organizer and mature beyond his years. James was a natural-born leader.  Whenever something needed to be done, James would organize the people he was working with and delegate each person’s job. He had a way of getting people to do things, especially if it made his part easier. James loved archeology and wanted to be an archeologist when he grew up. He was a collector of coins, rocks and fossils.  James was an impressive little entrepreneur and was always coming up with creative ways to earn money to pay for his collections. James was also a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was actively serving as the teacher’s quorum president, attended seminary and made a point to never miss a day of scripture reading.

James deeply loved his family and friends and would often sacrifice his own wants or needs to accommodate and help others. He was always seeking out those who needed him most, and did many things to show his love for them in secret. He was a nurturer and a caretaker. James took great care of his sister Abby who has autism. He could redirect her out of almost any tantrum or meltdown. James spent a lot of time playing with Abby and helping her to clean her room. The way in which James could relate to his siblings and help them when they had issues and difficulties was a gift to our family. James looked up to his older sister Emma and loved it when she would read books to him. He loved reading and listening to books with his mom, and hanging out with his dad especially when it included a secret donut or soda pop. Jacob was his little brother and his very best friend all rolled into one. The two had lots of fun adventures together.  They wrestled constantly and spent many nights sneaking down to the kitchen for late-night snacks and giggling in their room together.  They loved each other to no end.

James looked out for his siblings and would do anything for anyone. He was selfless and showed kindness in all that he did. His last act of service may have been protecting his brother from the impact of their go-kart accident that ended up taking his life. Though his time here on earth was short, we take great comfort in knowing that we will be reunited with him again someday. We know that this is God’s plan for him. James was a blessing to our family and he will forever be in our hearts and minds.

Funeral services will be held at the Eagle Mountain Woodhaven LDS Chapel located at 7775 North Woodhaven Blvd, Eagle Mountain, Utah 84005. A viewing will be held Friday, November 19th from 6-8 pm.  A viewing will also be held on Saturday, November 20th from 12:00-1:30 pm followed by funeral services at 2:00 pm.

Interment will be at Pony Express Memorial Cemetery at 4648 N. Eagle Mountain Blvd, Eagle Mountain, Utah 84005.

For those who would like to make donations to the family to help with medical expenses, a memorial fund has been set up at Mountain America Credit Union under James Russell Wardle.
