Jack Charles Ledyard, 88, of Orem, Utah, passed away April 17th, 2025. He was born May 9, 1936, in Oregon City, Oregon to Jack C Ledyard and Nellie Minerva Lyon. He married Myra LaVerne Allen on December 23, 1960, in a ceremony at home in Chico, California. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on July 8, 1963.
Jack served 8 years in the Navy Reserve, where he learned Morse code as a radio man. He liked guns and enjoyed reloading ammunition so much that he had his own reloading station in his shed. He joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 9 months after marrying Myra. Before joining the church, he jokingly said, "That's the last church I'll ever join.". Early in the church, they had Stake 70's quorums. He was proud to be a part of this quorum because their focus was missionary work, and he also enjoyed teaching Gospel Essentials. Myra's uncle got Jack a job as a surveyor, and he trained him in this profession. He was a hard worker and even stayed up many nights studying trigonometry so that he could use it on the job the next day. His first job surveying was on the Oroville Dam in California. He worked as a surveyor for 20 years. During that time, he surveyed New Hogan Dam, Lake Tahoe area, and even the Alyeska Pipeline. While working at the Alyeska Pipeline, he took flying lessons. Jack always claimed to be a jack of all trades, and he truly was. Some of his interests and hobbies were electronics, computers, beekeeper, mechanic, landlord, home remodels, and electrician. He was able to do just about anything.
Jack is survived by his 5 children Terrie (Todd) Wood of Palo Cedro, California, Sherri (Matt) Ence of Minden, Nevada, Susan (Bill) Treaster of Townsend, Montana, John (Wendy) Ledyard of Lindon, Utah, Delcie (Angel) Lopez of Washington Terrace, Utah, 21 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
