Henry Conrad Meeves, 91, died peacefully May 18th, 2015 in Orem, Utah. He was born on November 10, 1923, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Henry H. Meeves and Alta G. Bearnson. He attended East High School in Salt Lake City. After graduation he joined the U.S. Marine Corp, serving during WWII. Upon honorable discharge he returned to the University of Utah, where he played football, in the days of leather helmets. He was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. While attending the University of Utah he met Sara Jayne Woolsey at a school dance. They were married on September 15, 1950 at the Phi Mu sorority house and later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Henry worked for the U.S. Geological Survey and the Department of Mines as a Geological Engineer. Henry and Sara lived in Denver, CO for 36 years. While there they adopted and raised four children. As faithful members of the LDS Church they served as temple workers in the Denver Temple for 10 years, and the Manti Temple for 9 years. Henry was an avid family historian, he worked with Family History Search indexing and extracting names, up until his last days. He was also a skilled gardener, making anything grow under his watchful care. Henry is survived by his four children: Cheryl (Vince) Longshore of Memphis, TN; Kevin (Michelle) Meeves of Birmingham, AL; Richard (Dawn) Meeves of Orem, UT; Mary (Scott) Spain of Elk Grove, CA. He has 11 grandchildren (1 deceased); 5 great grandchildren. Funeral services will held Thursday May 21st, 2015 in the Sharon Park 3rd Ward building, 200 East 200 North Orem at 2 p.m. Viewing will be held Thursday, May 21st, 2015 from 12-1:30 p.m. in the same building. He will be interred at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery in Salt Lake City.
