Gweneth Adams

February 21, 1938 — December 28, 2015

Due to a sudden illness, on Christmas Day, 2015, we bid Hail and Farewell to our Sister, Aunt, Teammate and Friend. We send her off with our gratitude and love for her amazing gifts and the love she has shared with us for these 77 years. Gwen was born February 21, 1938, in Orem, Utah, to James Leslie and Florence Ethel Wilde Adams. She was the ninth of 10 children and grew up on the family farm. She attended school in Orem graduating from Lincoln High School, Class of 1956. She holds a BA degree from BYU, 1959, and taught Physical Education at Payson Junior High and Midvale Junior High until she retired after 30 years of teaching. West Jordan was her home for most of her adult life. Gwen was an athlete. She loved to play and coach almost everything: golf, bowling, softball... She was on the Utah Shamrocks Softball Team in the late 1950's. She was an avid sports fan and watched with enthusiasm and disgust thousands of hours of games in person and on television. She was honored to be a Utah Certified Golf Course Rater. Gwen is survived by one sister, F. Arlene Dart, and one brother, Michael Adams. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Raymond and Charles Adams, sisters, Ellen Franson, Betty Eastman, Nadene Jacobson, Bertien Toenjes, Shirley Ungerman and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Olpin Sundberg Mortuary in Orem, Utah, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
