Guy Walker, age 92, passed away peacefully after saying his final goodbyes to his family that meant so much to him. Guy was born August 13, 1925, in Lindon, Utah. He died November 5th, 2017 in Orem, Utah. He attended schools in Provo Utah and played basketball at Provo High School. He joined the US Army in 1943 where he served in WWII and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Purple Heart after being injured during his service. He married the love of his life LaRue Prestwich in 1946. They were later sealed in the Manti LDS Temple. He worked at Geneva Steel in the rolling mill until he retired in 1983. He was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. He loved sharing these passions with his family. He enjoyed taking trips to Mesquite and Las Vegas with his loving wife. He lived to serve his beautiful family. They meant everything to him. His family loved hearing the stories he told of his early life, the war and when he met his sweetheart. He was the perfect example of unconditional love to all he met. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his wife Larue Prestwich Walker and his two grandsons, Clinton Guy Walker and Austin Taylor Vickery.
He is survived by his three brothers Dell (Joann) Walker, Donell Walker, and Garth (Verla) Walker. His children Ken (Sondra) Walker, LaDean (Gary) Hancock, Blaine (Jeanne) Walker, 9 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren who were the light of his life.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State, Orem, Utah. Viewings will be held at the mortuary on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. just prior to the services. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
