Gregory Lee Frischknecht, 68, died peacefully in his sleep on May 29, 2021 at his home in Sandy, UT after courageously battling multiple illnesses over the past several years.
Greg was born on October 7, 1952 in Salt Lake City, UT to Donald Jay Frischknecht and Gail Jean Hamblin. Greg earned his Eagle Scout and graduated from Murray High School in 1971. That year, he married Barbara Ann Cowdell and they went on to have 3 boys that were the light of his life. Greg joined the Air Force National Guard in 1971 and served as a jet engine mechanic during Vietnam. Greg later married Vickie Lee Poplin on March 12, 1997 and she was by his side with love until the day he passed.
Greg was a welder and fabricator by trade and was very skilled at his craft. He took pride in his work and was known for building things “too well”. Greg was a very charitable and loving man, he always thought of others before himself. He enjoyed short trips to Wendover, Ice Fishing with his brother, sons, and grandsons, and camping at the family farm in Manti, UT. Greg was a fantastic cook and party host, and loved cooking for his family and friends. He was a great story teller and had a passion for music and singing. He wasn’t afraid to belt a tune at any occasion! Greg loved gardening and was famous for his pickled lemon cucumbers. Greg and his abundance of heart emojis will be greatly missed, but the family is at peace knowing that he is no longer suffering.
Preceded in death by his Father Donald Jay and 2 Brothers, Jay and Mac Frischknecht. He is survived by his Wife, Vickie L.; Sons Jeremy (Jade), Joshua (Misty), and Jeffery (Alex); Step-sons Derrick (Nikki) Dial, Allen (Teri) Dial; 18 Grandchildren; 7 Great-Grandchildren; his Mother Gail Hutchison; Brother Wade (Linda) and Sister Phyllis (Norv) Dallin. Along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
