Grant Neilsen

December 14, 1928 — September 28, 2016

Grant Elwood Neilsen was born in Mona, Utah on December 14, 1928, the tenth of 13 children. He died on September 28, 2016 in Provo, Utah. After graduating from Juab High School in Nephi, he attended and graduated from Utah State University in the Spring of 1951. He then married Roberta Reese on June 8, 1951 in the Logan Temple. He was commissioned into the United States Air Force and began a military career that ended in 1973 when he retired as a Lt Col and moved to Fair Oakes, California where he and Roberta resided 40 years. In Sacramento he worked for Dunhill Executive Employment Agency and subsequently was called to set up the LDS Employment Center which he managed for several years.

Grant and Roberta had 4 children, Michael, Gregory, Steven and Suzanne. He was preceded in death by his son Gregory (1978) and his wife Roberta (2012). Grant then moved to Utah where he split time living with Michael and Steven. Grant spent his life serving in numerous Church callings including: District President, Branch President, Counselor in numerous Bishoprics, Ward Clerk, Stake Executive Secretary, High Councilor, and temple ordinance worker in the Sacramento temple. He had a personal relationship with each of his nine grandchildren, and left a lasting legacy to his 22 great grandchildren.

Funeral services are Monday, October 3, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Lakeview 6th Ward, 2168 S 140 W, Orem, UT. with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church.  He will be buried in Fair Oaks, CA with full military honors.
