Grace Morrell Blackburn, age 85, passed away suddenly on September 19, 2018 at her home in Orem, Utah.
Grace was born August 27,1933 in Bicknell, Utah, she was the daughter of Frederick Milton Morrell and Ruby Brinkerhoff Morrell. She attended elementary school in Fremont, Utah and Wayne High School in Bicknell Utah.
She married Boyd Don Blackburn on May 14th,1950, and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. There's was a love story. They moved from a small town in Utah to San Diego, California, and built their lives from scratch. After Don was released from the Navy he was involved in the construction industry, building thousands of homes and Grace helped with the office work for Don while raising three daughters. She went deer hunting on horseback and killed a deer. She completed a two-day, 100-mile race on horseback, leading the way until she got lost in a box canyon. She was a member of a horseback rodeo riding team. She drove and raced dune buggies. She embraced the outdoors by camping and gardening. They build their dream home in Dehesa Canyon where they had space to have gardens as well as other animals as pets and hobbies. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. She served as an Ordinance Worker in the San Diego Temple and as well as in other organizations of the church. After Don passed away, Grace became a Real Estate Agent and was very successful.
She is survived by her daughters Jeraldine (Mike) Cates and Tari (Danny) Smith, her siblings Myrna (Dick) Chappell and Donald (FloVon) Forsyth and brother-in-law Wayne Chidester; step brothers Merrill (Melba) Forsyth, Ward (Judy) Forsyth, and Clark (Karen) Forsyth. She was predeceased by her husband Boyd Don Blackburn, a daughter Tamara Blackburn, siblings Brent (Maurine)Morrell, Montez Chidester and Terry Forsyth. She has 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday September 25, 2018, at 11 a.m. in the Suncrest 6th Ward Chapel located at 891 West 130 North, Orem, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held just prior to the services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the El Cajon City Cemetery (El Cajon, California) where a graveside services will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018. Condolences may be sent at www.SundbergOlpinMortuary.com.
