Gordon Arne Flikeid, age 91, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2018 in Orem, UT. He was born October 22, 1926 to Alice B. (Kinzel) & Arne Flikeid in Minneapolis, MN.
He was from Norwegian and German heritage. He grew up on Wentworth Avenue with his parents, siblings, and paternal grandparents. His maternal grandparents and three aunts lived next door. His maternal grandfather built both homes. He had a wonderful childhood. He later purchased the family home when his mother remarried and continued to live there with his daughters until they left home. They were affectionately referred to as, “Gordy and the girls.”
He served as Crew Chief on a P-47 in the U.S. Air Corps in Straubing, Germany during WWII. Gordon graduated from the Univ of MN in 1951. He married Patricia “Patty” Clare Murphy on September 28, 1955. They had four beautiful daughters together. He joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS) in 1974. He was a lifetime member of VFW & a 66 year member of IBEW. He worked for Collins Electric as an electrician and later in the office, then formed ABC Energy Management in 1982. He moved to Orem, UT in 1990, and was sealed as an eternal family in the Provo LDS Temple on March 17, 1993. Gordon served an LDS mission to Nauvoo, IL from 1993-94, and a second LDS mission to Laie, HI from 1998-99. He used his electrical skills on both missions, rewiring both Historic Nauvoo and the Polynesian Cultural Center.
Gordon was preceded in death by his sweetheart Patricia, sister Eleanor A. Mars (Victor), brother Donald L. B. Flikeid (Wanda), and three grandsons - Elijah D. Bray, Jared E. Badger & Adam G. Norton. Survived by his four daughters, Catherine “Kitty” A. Badger (Farrell), Anita A. Lewis (Lynn), Dawn A. Norton (Scott), & Carlanne “Annie” P. Bray (Daniel), 35 grandchildren & 57 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 9:45-10:45am, prior to the Funeral Services at 11am on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary 495 State St. Orem, UT. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
