Gladys Leona Olsen Carter, 86, of Orem, passed away peacefully Friday September 15, 2017. Gladys was born in Brigham City, Utah to Marvin Alfonzo Olsen and Della Johnston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Carter, two sons, Scott and Elwood, a grandson Zachary Carter, brothers: Junior, Jerry, Jack and Larry Olsen. She is survived by 2 sons: Robert (VaNiece) of Pleasant Grove, Blaine (Cristi) of Orem, and daughter Julie (David) Allen of Lehi, her daughter-in-law Debbie Carter of Pleasant Grove; 19 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren; a sister Connie Harvey, brother-in-law Vern Carter and sisters-in-law, Kathleen Olsen, Kathleen Sterrett and Brenda Carter.
Gladys grew up in Bear River and Brigham City then in her teens moved to Salt Lake City, where she met and married her Eternal Companion, Bob Elwood Carter. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on December 15, 1947. They settled in Orem and raised their 5 children. Gladys was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was always serving others. She served in many callings in the church including the Relief Society, Primary Presidencies, visiting teacher, and ward librarian. She also served as a missionary at the Provo M.T.C.
The family extends special thanks to Summerfield Assisted Living for the loving care given to our mother. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Geneva Heights Stake Center, 546 North 500 West, Orem. Family and friends may call at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment in the Orem City Cemetery.
