Gerald (Jerry) Smith

1934-2018

Our beloved Brother, Uncle, Grandpa and Friend, left this world on September 17, 2018 in Draper, Utah. Born February 19, 1934 to James Lougy Smith and Helen Marjorie Johnson Smith in Tooele, Utah.

Preceded in death by his parents, his loving eternal partner Doris Ellenburg and his sister Nancy Joyce Puff.

Jerry is survived by sister Marjorie Rutledge and her sons David, John and Jeff. Sister Sherry Burton and son Ian J. and Megan Burton and their children Devin and Rylee, and daughters McCall and Isabella White. Niece Andrea and Lance Newberry and daughter Jordan and niece Shannon Novak and her daughter Maeve. Brother-in-law Charles E. Puff and Doris Ellenburg’s extended family.

Jerry was a graduate of BYU with a degree in accounting. He worked as an accountant for BYU for many years. He also worked at the missionary training center at BYU.

Jerry was a kind and loving man, that would help anyone anytime he could. He was called a true gentleman at Wentworth Assisted Living, where he spent his last 2 years of life. He was a caregiver for our mother and for his beloved partner Doris. He was a true example of a really good man. He will be greatly missed. We all loved him very much and the children affectionately called him Grandpa. His dry sense of humor will be missed, as well as long discussions about politics. Our love goes with him on his journey.

Funeral services will be held, at the LDS Church on 140 North 400 West, Orem, Utah on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 11 a.m. There will be a viewing Friday morning from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the services.
