Gary Ells Hancock, 67, formerly of Orem Utah, residing in Spanish Fork, Utah, passed away March 6, 2019 after fighting a courageous battle with ALS. He was born Sept 28, 1951 in Provo, Utah to Charles and Verena Hancock. He married the love of his life LaDean Walker Jan 23, 1970. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo Temple on Oct 5, 1993.
Gary attended schools in Spanish Fork and Provo Utah. He worked at Geneva Steel for 28 years and Barnes Bullets for 10 Years. Gary loved being in the outdoors enjoying hunting, fishing and camping with his friends and family. He and LaDean were members of the TimpMoonshiners Good Sams Club for 12 years. Gary was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and enjoyed working with the young men and scouting programs. Gary loved spending time in his woodshop building jewelry boxes, clocks and more.
Gary is survived by his loving wife LaDean, 3 children: Stacy (Branden) Vickery, of Spanish Fork, Utah; Jennifer (Joshua) Stewart of Spanish Fork, Utah; and Michael (Kellie) Hancock of Spanish Fork, Utah; Brother Allen (Beverly) Hancock of Spanish Fork, Utah; and 6 grandchildren that he loved dearly. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister and 2 brothers, mother and father in law Guy & LaRue Walker and grandson Austin Taylor Vickery.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Aspen 6th ward chapel, located at 1546 N 1100 W in Orem, Utah. A viewing for friends and family will be held Sunday evening, March 10 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary at 495 S State Street in Orem, and Monday just prior to the service from 9:30-10:30a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Orem city cemetery.
