Gary Lynn Bell, 66, of Orem, Utah passed away Friday, July 14th, 2023, surrounded by his family at home. Gary was born on July 21st, 1956, to parents Lynn and LaRee Bell as the third of their four children. Gary married the love of his life, Joselia Bell on September 11th, 1999.
Gary grew up with his three sisters going on adventures with his family. Some of their favorite family activities included camping in the family trailer, annual trips to Lake Tahoe, and skiing at Sundance and Park City. As the only son, Gary enjoyed many activities with his father, Lynn Bell, including playing church softball, fishing on the Provo River, duck hunting at Fish Lake, and especially playing golf.
Gary graduated from Orem High School in 1974 as a standout on the golf team and in the classroom. He went on to graduate from Brigham Young University with a Master’s Degree in accounting and at age 21, became the youngest person in Utah history to earn their CPA license. Gary worked as a CPA for several years, then in 1991, went on to take over the family business, Hansen Vending Company, which he ran successfully until his last days.
As a business owner, Gary was known for his hard work and dedication. He was always the first one in and the last one to leave. From his accounting days, he developed an extreme attention to detail, always making sure that the job was done right whether it was tax returns, yard work, or home remodeling. Gary’s number one passion, however, was spending quality time with Josie, Joseph and Connor. He loved making memories through family vacations and outings, passing down his love for outdoor activities such as skiing, fishing, hunting, and golf to his sons just as his dad had done for him.
Aside from having fun, he always made sure that his family was well cared for. He kept up to date on how his sons were doing in school and would spend hours helping them with their homework and studies. He would notice if something wasn’t working properly with his wife’s or sons’ cars and would immediately start working to fix whatever the problem was. In general, Gary was concerned with all the people around him, and he worked hard to see that they were taken care of. He was a devout son, brother, husband, and father.
Gary is survived by his wife, Joselia, and sons, Joseph and Connor Bell; his mother LaRee D. Bell; sisters, Marilyn Dunn, Diane Finch (J. Alan), and Janice Gosalvez (Edgar).
