Eugene Paul Rawlings of Orem, Utah passed away unexpectedly October 7, 2014 at age 76. He was born June 26, 1938 in Provo, Utah, a son of Paul Eugene and Bessie Smith Rawlings. He was a loving husband, amazing father, and beloved grandfather. Gene enjoyed, playing sports, outdoor recreation, horses, gardening, sports, travel, and spending time with grandchildren. He loved Pepsi and ice cream. His favorite sayings include "remember who you are and the family name you bear" and "keep smiling". He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served as a Bishop, in a Branch Presidency at the MTC, a Church Service Mission at the Bishop's Storehouse, Scoutmaster, and other leadership positions during his many years of service. He is survived by his wife Marva Porter Rawlings, and his children Kelly, Chris (Roger) Prete, Lee (Jer), Gary (Kemari), and Heidi (Ken) Hurst. Siblings include Ralph (Gwen), Anita , Gil (Vinona), Jeanette (Russell) Bellows, and Cindy Poulsen. His posterity includes 20 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and counting. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathryn Wallace Rawlings, sons Scott and Jay, and parents Paul and Bessie Rawlings. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday October 11, 2014 at the Lakeridge Stake Center, 149 East 1100 South in Orem Utah. A viewing will be held at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary in Orem, Utah, Friday evening October 10th from 6:00 to 8:00 and also Saturday from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral services at the stake center. Interment will be at the Orem City Cemetery.
