Elna Blackham

SERVICE DATE CORRECTION: Elna Ann Christensen Blackham, 85, of Orem, passed away Friday, December 14, 2018. She was born May 21, 1933 in Monroe, Utah, in the bedroom of her grandmother, Annie Julander, who delivered her. She was the only child born to Emmett Christensen and Annie Elaine Julander Christensen. Her mother later married Louie “Lefty” Slavensky who Elna considered a father. She married Jack R Blackham in Elko, Nevada; their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple in 1966. Jack preceded her in death in 2011.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served as a Relief Society President for 6 years with Bishop Ron Jex. She embroidered temple aprons for Beehive Clothing Mills, one year embroidering 100 aprons. She worked and retired from Signetics.

Elna is survived by 2 sons and 1 daughter: Earl Blackham of Kemmerer, WY; Darrell (Penny) Blackham; and Jane Blackham of Provo; 2 brothers-in-law; 1 sister-in-law; 7 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a grandson, Vance.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Geneva Heights 2nd Ward Latter-day Saint Chapel located at 575 N 900 W, Orem. A viewing for friends and family will be held Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Sundberg Olpin Mortuary located at 495 South State Street in Orem, and on Wednesday just prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
