Edith "Edie" Lenington

November 28, 1938 — November 15, 2016

Our beloved wife, mother, and friend Edith "Edie" Evelyn Lenington passed away peacefully on November 15, 2016 at Timpanogos Hospital in Orem, Utah.  She was 77 years old.  Edie was born on November 28, 1938 in Warminster, beautiful Buck's County, Pennsylvania.

Edie was a classy lady with good taste.  She loved the good things in life:  good music, good theater, good conversation, good food, and good people. Edie loved being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  As a skilled homemaker, she did a lot of baking, sewing, crochet, knitting, and taking care of her family.  She used her skills to make things for the people she loved.

Edie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and treasured her membership and the blessings of the gospel.  Service was important to her.  She made over 250 leper bandages for humanitarian use, served in many callings including in the Primary Presidency and as a Visiting Teaching Supervisor.  Edie enjoyed serving in the temple and doing family history work.

After her first marriage and divorce, Edie was a single mother living in Montana and working hard to raise her children.  Three of her "grandmother friends" from church convinced her to go to a church dance in a town 50 miles away.  While she was there Edie met Walter Lenington who had come to the dance from 50 miles in the opposite direction.   They later married in the Cardston Alberta Temple December 10, 1975.  The eventually moved to Orem, Utah where they lived out their older years.

Edie was preceded in death by husband Walter L. Lenington, son Dale Sanford, and daughter Jennifer Sanford.  She is survived by her children: Mary Elizabeth Lenington, Susie Sanford, Lori Sanford, Jeannie Sanford, and Phil Sanford, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A funeral service was held at her home ward LDS Chapel in Orem on November 22, 2016.  Edie is now peacefully resting with her husband Walter at the Veterans Memorial Park in Bluffdale, Utah.
