Earl Samuel Brown, 96, passed away Oct. 20, 2014. He was born in American Fork, Utah, on April 30, 1918, the son of Martha E. Jacklin and Thomas W. Brown. He was the youngest of 5 children. Growing up during the Great Depression, he learned the value of hard work. As a young man he worked on farms, on the Southern Pacific Railroad and at a lumber mill. During WW II he served in the Army Air Core. He married Norma E. Marshall in St. Louis, Mo. on June 20, 1942. Marriage solemnized in Manti Utah Temple July 2, 1963. They are the parents of 4 children. He graduated from Utah State University in dairy manufacturing. He worked for a time in that field, but spent most of his career as a foreman on the coke ovens at Geneva Steel. He was a man of many interests and talents, a jack of all trades, & a man of service. He was famous for his candy making and his gardening. He enjoyed photography and crocheting. He gave much of his time in service to the LDS church, including a full time mission to New Zealand with Mom. Survived by his children, Wendell (Glee) Brown, Earlene (David) MacMeekin, Doug (Debra) Brown & Dennis (Karen) Brown, 16 grandchildren, & 32 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, his parents, 1 granddaughter, 3 brothers, & 1 sister. Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, 10 a.m. at the LDS Chapel, 1120 East 600 North, Orem. A viewing will be held Friday, 6 - 8 pm at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State, Orem and also at the chapel 9 - 9:45 am on Saturday. Interment: Orem City Cemetery.
