Douglas Gary Cardall October 29, 1938--November 5, 2015 Douglas Gary Cardall passed away peacefully at his home on November 5, 2015 with his wife Carol at his side. Gary was born on October 29, 1938, in Provo, Utah, to Claud C. and Mary Louise Hoover Cardall. He grew up in Provo and attended Provo schools, eventually earning his Associate's Degree in Technical Illustrating from the Utah Trade Technical College. He married Carol Jean Williams on July 14, 1967 and they were the parents of three children: Shane, Dallen, and Catherine. Their oldest son Shane passed away as a result of an automobile accident while serving an LDS mission in Oregon. Gary and Carol's children were the loves of their lives. Through many trials, they have been loving and devoted parents. Gary was employed at Backman's Foundry, then later worked as a technical illustrator for the EIMCO corporation, and then PDM (Pittsburgh Des Moines) corporation. For most of his later life, however, he worked as a grounds supervisor for BYU. His skill as a grounds supervisor carried over into keeping his own beautiful, well-manicured yard; and his skill as a technical illustrator carried over into his skill as a painter, artist, and woodworker. Gary also loved being in the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and golf. He always loved his pets and was always excited to share the news when he had a new dog, a new car, or a new motorcycle. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served as a missionary in the Northwest States Mission, and he has served in a variety of callings in his ward throughout his life. Gary was preceded in death by his father and mother, his son Shane, and his brothers Norman, Stanley (Bud), and Robert. He is survived by his wife Carol, his son Dallen, and daughter Catherine. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 12 at 10:00 a.m. at the Pioneer 2nd Ward, 450 N. 1220 W., Provo, Utah. A viewing will be held from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. immediately prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in the Provo City Cemetery under the direction of the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary. The family would like to express their gratitude to ward members for their kind support during Gary's declining years as well as to OneCare Hospice for their loving care and attention.
