Doris Hutchings

December 9, 1924 — March 26, 2017

Doris Mae Hutchings passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017, in Provo, Utah, age 92.  She was born December 9, 1924, in Fresno, California, to Villa Lorene and John C. Michael. She was sealed to Arden B. Hutchings in the Salt Lake Temple on July 3, 1944. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arden and two of their sons Joseph and Shane.

Doris had an artistic nature. She loved painting, sewing, and designing. She was a wonderful homemaker and, a legacy for which her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will always remember. Doris was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in numerous church callings. With Arden, they served five missions, including presiding over the Florida South Mission.

Doris is survived by her seven children: Yvonne (Bill, dec.) Nielson of Cody, Wyoming; Shereen (Ron, dec.) Gardner of Provo, Utah; Camme (Steve) Cox of Provo, Utah; Sandi Barnes of Provo, Utah; Del (Debi) Hutchings of Provo, Utah; Jeri (Stephen) Covey of Provo, Utah; Shaunae (John) Ivins of Provo, Utah; 41 grandchildren and 114 great grandchildren.

A viewing for friends and family will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Covey residence (2460 North Canyon Road, Provo, Utah). A celebration of her life will follow beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Provo City Cemetery. We appreciate the outpouring of love and service that has been given to our family at this time.  We would especially like to recognize the nurses that have so lovingly cared for Doris over the past three years.

In lieu of flowers Mom requested donations be made to the LDS General Missionary Fund.  Condolences may be left for the family on this site.
