Donna Nixon

September 4, 1934 — March 16, 2018

Donna Mae (Sampson) Jensen Nixon, 83, of Lindon, Utah, passed away Friday, March 16, 2018. She was born September 4, 1934 in Glenwood, Utah, to Doyle T. Sampson and Elda Verl Petersen. She married Don Bradley Jensen of Salina, Utah, on June 9, 1954, in the Manti LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on October 23, 1983. She later married John D. “Jack” Nixon on October 12, 1989. He preceded her in death on May 1, 2013.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various church callings.

She will be remembered for her contagious laugh that simply wouldn’t stop. She spent her childhood learning to quilt with her mother and grandmother Petersen. She was one of the last of the hand quilters that insisted her designs and stitches be precise. Her children and grandchildren were blessed with the joy of an heirloom quilt stitched with love.

She was a competitive card player. Chances of beating her at Canasta or Hand & Foot were close to zero due to her amazing competitive play.

Donna loved traveling with family and friends to new and interesting places. She loved collecting spoons, thimbles, and teapots from all around the world—and she didn’t even drink tea!

She was blessed with many wonderful friends she considered part of her family.

Donna was preceded in death by Don, Jack, her parents, and her granddaughter Aubrianna Tatum.

Donna is survived by her four children: Blaine (Dona) Jensen of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Brent (Lara) Jensen of Forest Grove, Oregon; Donja (Craig) Wright of Hyde Park, Utah; Robert (DeEtte) Jensen of Las Vegas, Nevada; her brother Norman Sampson of New York, New York. And also by her brother Max (Mary) Sampson of Alpine, Utah; her step-children Shirley (Lee) Poor of  Hudson, Illinois; Christine Christensen of Harrisville, Utah; Debbie (Andy) Riggs of Barrington, Rhode Island; Gloria Nixon of American Fork, Utag. And by 23 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 24, 2018, at the Lindon 1st LDS Ward Chapel located at 56 East 600 North, Lindon, Utah. Visitations will be held Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary located at 495 South State Street, Orem, Utah, and on Saturday 9:30 am to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the ward chapel.
