Dee Blackley, 85, of Orem, Utah, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, peacefully surrounded by family. He was born on October 15, 1931, to Glen and Blanche Blackley. He graduated from Springville High School and continued his studies at Brigham Young University.
On March 23, 1951, he married his sweetheart Darline Hinkins. They had 66 wonderful years together and raised five daughters. From September 1950 through September 1953, he served in the National Guard and was called up to serve in the Korean War. He was employed by Procter & Gamble for 32 years, from which he retired in 1990. He was the President of the Orem Jaycees and received the honor as the Outstanding Young Man in Orem and also received a nomination as one of the three Outstanding Young Man in Utah in 1965. He was active in the LDS church and over the years served in many capacities. He was also an avid tennis player.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Terrie Lynn and Pamela Dee, and one brother, Glen Leon. He is survived by his wife Darline, his daughters Monica (Michael) Petro, Leesa, (Neil) Phelps, and Nyki (Sean) Dobson. He has 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one brother Kent (Sharon).
The viewing will be Friday, March 24, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, March 25, 2017, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the LDS meeting house at 1035 South 800 East, Orem, Utah. The memorial service will be Saturday, March 25 at 11:00 a.m., at the same location. He will be buried in the Heber City Cemetery in Heber, Utah.
