Del Ray Hardy

July 28, 1938 — January 7, 2024

Orem

Del Ray was born on July 28, 1938, to Chester and Hazel Asay Hardy In La Verkin, Utah.  He grew up in La Verkin, Utah, and graduated from Hurricane High School.

He married his wife Rose Marie Frazier on September 16, 1959, in the St. George Temple. They raised 3 beautiful daughters together, Marie Herbert, Kareena Elisaia, and Susette Gourley.

Del Ray was a very hardworking man and could fix anything except a computer. He always said, “I work from the neck down”. Del Ray worked as a welder, and fitter, and did construction of houses, guard rails on the highways, restoring old cars, restoring furniture, and laying tile.

Del Ray was inducted into the Utah Hot Rod Hall of Fame in 2013. He was the epitome of what a street rodder should be. He was presented with a nice plaque. His enthusiasm for street rodding was unparalleled.

Del Ray had a love for music. He restored a piano, twice, played the guitar, and sang. He loved when people would come over to the house and play music and sing into the night.

Del Ray loved to tell stories and had a most infectious laugh. He would share stories with kids, grandkids, neighbors, and friends from all around.

Del Ray is survived by his wife, Rose Marie, and their three children: Marie (Bill) Herbert, Provo, UT, Kareena (Ioane) Elisaia, Highland, UT, Susette (Richard) Gourley, Pleasant Grove, UT, and 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
