David Scott Anderson

September 14, 1960 — August 30, 2024

Orem

David Scott Anderson, 63, of Orem, passed away Friday, August 30, 2024. He was born September 14, 1960, in Downey, California to George Ronald Anderson, and Betty Lou Thurman Tetley Anderson, the youngest of eight siblings.

David loved growing up in South California with some of his favorite times going with his family to Huntington Beach, Lake Gregory in Crestline, CA where they rented paddle boards, riding bikes Covina Park to swim at the "Plunge", going to the Covina Drive-In Theater with a big brown paper bag of popcorn and a gallon Coleman jug of koolaide. He especially enjoyed getting a frosty mug of A&W rootbeer that was brought to the car on a window tray. He and his sister Carol, were greatest of buddies growing up, and enjoyed various adventures together. One of those adventures being going with Carol to collect glass soda bottles that they would then turn in for the deposit money of 5 or 10 cents a bottle, with that money being promptly spent on penny candy or a 25 cent gallon of gas for their mini-bike.

David had a dry sense of humor and would often call his sister Carol, just to crack a joke or tell a funny story about something he found amusing. They had special nicknames for each other with his being "Knucklehead" which Carol lovingly called him by up to his last day. They maintained a special connection as they grew into adulthood and he would often tell her that she was his best friend.

He absolutely adored his Cats; Chino, Dappleganger and Baby and they were amongst his greatest friends who brought much joy and happiness to his life. One of his loves were dill pickles and he would eat at least one every .. single .. day without fail. He had a sweet tooth and never turned down an offer of some yummy treat. He was a good cook and really enjoyed cooking, especially making a big pot of Ham & Bean soup.

David learned to love baseball as a young boy playing in little league and that love continued to grow over time till he became one of the biggest LA Dodgers fans around. He followed the Dodgers faithfully throughout the years and loved any gifts of Dodger memorabilia. He was a talented drummer and was always up for a gig, enjoyed putting together model cars and watching drag racing.

He was super smart and an excellent student earning three degrees graduating with High Honors in an AAS of Aviation Maintenance Technology and an Associate of Science from Salt Lake Community College and graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Technology Management from Utah Valley University. He was a very accomplished auto mechanic and worked in that industry for many years.

He was always generous in helping family and friends whenever they had car troubles and David loved his boys. His youngest son Aaron, fondly remembers that at the end of every phone call or card sent to him, David would end it by saying, "I love you Forever and a Day." Even though David, like all of us, was not perfect, he had a kind heart.

David was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and although he had his struggles in life, he believed in the Savior and prayed often to his Heavenly Father. His favorite book was, "Believing Christ" and when he would visit his Mother in the months before her passing, he would read to her from it.

David is survived by his sons, Joshua (Becca) Anderson of American Fork, Utah and Aaron Anderson of Irvine, California. His six living siblings; Claudia (Lou) Nackos of Columbus, Texas; Erik (Debi) Anderson of Springville, Utah; Judy Anderson of Orem, Utah; Eileen Younkin of Cedar City, Utah; Greg (Kelli) Anderson of Eagle Mountain, Utah; and Carol (Reed) Harrison of Orem, Utah; one granddaughter and his cat Baby. He was preceded in death by his Father George R. Andeson in 2006, his Mother Betty L. Anderson in June 2024 and his eldest brother, George R. Anderson Jr. who passed as a baby in January 1945.

The family will hold a memorial for David at a future date and he will be interred in the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, Utah.
