Darrell H. Harward returned home to his Heavenly Father on December 29th, 2023.
Darrell was born on March 4th, 1938, to Orson and Iva Harward. He grew up in Provo, Utah with eight older siblings and graduated from Provo High.
Darrell married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Margaret Carter, in the Salt Lake Temple on September 17th, 1958. They welcomed five children into their home and have been eternal companions for sixty-five beautiful years.
Darrell loved the outdoors. The mountains were his home away from home. Hunting, fishing, and camping were some of his favorite activities to do with those he loved most. He also had a great love for sports and was a little league coach with his brother, Ike for numerous years. Darrell enjoyed bird watching in his backyard, eagle watching at Utah Lake, working on a good puzzle, and reading books.
Darrell was a perfect example of hard work and service. He made several sacrifices to ensure his family was well taken care of. He spent most of his life as a drywall contractor and eventually started his own company called Darrell Harward Drywall. His meticulous work was well-respected in the community and many of the homes he worked on were featured in various home shows.
Throughout his life, Darrell always embodied service. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had many callings. He served in the bishopric and was a high councilman for thirteen years. After he retired, he served as a temple worker in the baptistry at the Provo and Timpanogos temples for fourteen years. He also served a five-year service mission at the Bishops’ Storehouse.
Darrell was not only a very supportive father; he was also a fantastic grandpa. He read his grandchildren countless books, always made sure Werther’s were stocked in the candy jar, and he loved watching his grandchildren play soccer, softball, gymnastics, and compete in rodeo and horsemanship competitions.
Darrell is survived by his wife and children: Tammy Adams, Floyd (Shannon) Harward, Peggy (Greg) Lindsay, Michelle (Karl) Reinhold, Shauna Harward, ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and his brother Verl Harward.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings, and son-in-law Fred Adams.
