Daniel Kin Lierman, 62, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 in American Fork, Utah, following a series of health challenges.
Dan was born on May 27, 1954, in Portland, Oregon, to Albert George Lierman and Margaret Edith “Peggy” Lierman née Olsen. He graduated from David Douglas High School in 1972 and went to work providing guest services at several of Portland’s luxury hotels. In 1976, Louise Nuffer introduced him to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was baptized soon after, and they were married in the Idaho Falls, Idaho, Temple on August 16,1977. They raised their family in the Pacific Northwest (Molalla, Oregon; Colton, Oregon; Gig Harbor, Washington) before settling in Lindon, Utah.
Dan devoted his life to his family and children. He was a quintessential early adopter and inspired his children with his love for technology. He led his family spiritually and taught them character through his entrepreneurial spirit and consideration toward others. His unending curiosity led him to develop a myriad of technical skills upon which he founded several businesses and excelled in customer service in the technology sector. Dan took great pleasure in staying connected with his friends, family, and colleagues throughout the years, and he could always be counted on to help find a solution to any of life’s inconveniences. He used his gift of persuasion to encourage others to get the most out of life and strive for excellence in customer service, business and in service to the Lord.
Dan loved listening to music, especially classic rock and smooth jazz. He also enjoyed refinishing furniture, yard work, and completing projects around his home. He sought opportunities to learn in both secular and religious subjects and taught his children to do the same. He loved to spend time with his family, and enjoyed hosting family dinners on Sundays with those who lived nearby.
Dan is survived by his six children: Jenelle (Jason) Hunter of Orem, Utah; Marné Lierman of Lindon, Utah; Diana (Dustin) Roses of Bangkok, Thailand; Chad Lierman of Lindon, Utah; Mark (Amanda) Lierman of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Michael Lierman of Pleasant Grove, Utah; nine grandchildren: Corbin, Sophia, Adelaide, and Gavin Hunter; Emmett, Sonja, and Audrey Roses; and James and Joseph Lierman. He also leaves behind three siblings: David Lierman of Milwaukie, Oregon; Deborah (Tom) Burns of Palmer, Alaska; and Aaron Forbes of Salem, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Mark.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. at the LDS Chapel located at 325 Canal Drive (600 East), Lindon, Utah, with a viewing at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Lindon City Cemetery under the direction of Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary.
