Coy Carson, age 88, died November 22, 2014, in Orem, Utah from cancer. She was born October 3, 1926 in Liberal, Kansas, to Herbert and Ruby Looney Woodward. She graduated Valedictorian from Liberal High School in 1944 and from the Kansas City Secretarial School in 1945. She then enlisted in the United States Nurse Cadet Core and entered the Wesley School of Nursing in Wichita, Kansas, where she earned her RN in 1948. As part of her training, she served for 6 months in the Indian Health Service Hospital in Fort Defiance, Arizona. It was here that she met and married Richard William Carson on November 7, 1948 in Gallup, New Mexico. They later joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and were sealed as a family in the Mesa Arizona Temple in 1958. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Richard (Cub) Carson, 3 daughters, Patricia Dianne Slade (LeGrand), Kathryn Jane Carson, Deborah Lynn Taylor (Norman), 24 grandchildren and 70 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter Mary Elizabeth Saline, her parents and her sister, Mary Elizabeth Woodward. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 29, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. in the Timpanogos Park 5th Ward, 990 North 100 West, Orem, Utah. Viewing prior to the funeral, 11:45-12:45.
