Clyde Wortham Asay passed away on July 6, 2016. He was born on November 10, 1921, in Lovell, Wyoming, and spent his early years in southern and central Utah. After graduating from Orem High School in Orem, Utah, he proudly served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
While serving in the war, he kept written correspondence with Esther Hansen. After Clyde returned from the war, the two were married on March 26, 1945, in the the Salt Lake City temple. Esther preceded Clyde in death on March 26, 2003, and now they are finally reunited. They had four children: Katherine Asay, Richard (Cassie) Asay, Terry (Sue) Asay, and Sandy (Robert) Johnson.
Clyde worked at the Geneva Steel Plant in Orem until he retired. He served in numerous positions in the LDS Church, among which was an Ordinance Worker in the Provo Temple.
He was a great cook, and everyone who tasted one of his pies is better off for having done so. He also enjoyed reading, spending time outdoors, playing with his grandchildren, and taking trips with his wife.
A graveside service will be held Monday, July 11 at the Provo City Cemetery, 610 South State Street, Provo Ut. with a viewing from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State St, Orem, UT, prior to the service.
