Clela Harris

Clela Fae Nelson Harris, age 80 of Orem Utah, passed away peacefully May 26, 2015 from illnesses incident to age. She was born November 24, 1934 at Doc Rigby's home in Fairview Utah to Laurel and Martha Nelson of Manila Utah near Flaming Gorge. Clela grew up in Manila and on the Nebeker Ranch a few miles west of town. Her circle of friends included Donna Pallesen, Rena Pallesen, Fon Slagowski, Dale Briggs, Ferl Briggs, Wanita Ellsworth, and more. She loved picnics, movies, bowling, bike rides, visiting, traveling, card games such as bridge, canasta and pinochle, and many board games. Her talents and hobbies included sewing, crocheting, water skiing, and reading. She enjoys having close relationships with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is well known for her incredible memory of names dates and events. She was always well loved by all her friends and associates. Clela met and fell in love with her future sweetheart Glen at Manila where they both attended High School. Glen grew up on the Eli Slagowski ranch just across the Utah Wyoming State Line. They were married in Green River Wyoming January 28, 1952, and had 2 children, Carma Jean and Dave. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on their 32nd wedding anniversary in 1984, and have shared 63 years of marital bliss together. They lived in Manila from 1956 to 1964, during which time Glen began his career with the Bureau of Reclamation on Flaming Gorge Dam. When it was completed, they moved to Morgan, Utah from 1964 to 1966, then to Mountain View, Wyoming from 1966 to 1973. They lived in St. Anthony Idaho from 1973 to 1977 then moved back to Mountain View a second time until 1979. They lived in Duchesne, Utah from 1979 to 1987, and have lived in Orem to this time. Clela was an active member of the LDS Church and served as Primary Secretary, Visiting Teaching Coordinator, Relief Society Board member, Relief Society Education Counselor, Librarian, Achievement-day Supervisor, Ward Employment & Welfare Specialist, and Visiting Teaching Supervisor. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Carlene Reed, and Granddaughter Karen Cummings. She is survived by her husband Glen, daughter Carma Jean (Jennings Skidmore), and son Dave (Cindy Harris); 7 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 10am at the Park 2nd Ward Chapel located at 1160 West 400 South, Orem Utah. A viewing will be held Friday from 6 to 8 pm at the Sundberg-Olpin Funeral Home, 495 South State Street. Interment will be at the Manila Cemetery with a 1 hour viewing from 4pm to 5pm at the LDS church in Manila 200 North 100 West.
