Dr. Charles William Edmonds Jr. of Orem, Utah. Returned to his Heavenly Father Sunday, December 13, 2015 passing of natural causes. He was known to his friends and family as "Doc". He was born on October 20, 1928 to Charles and Frances Edmonds in Baltimore, Maryland. He graduated from Towson High School in 1946. Where he was the Captain of the Lacrosse Team. In 1946 Doc attended the University of Maryland as a Pre-Med Student, until he enlisted with the United States Air Force in 1950 at the beginning of the Korean War. He served his country from 1950 to 1954. During his service he was awarded, The Good Conduct Medal and The National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1954. On November 23, 1951 he married his sweetheart Shirley Mae Yardley of Beaver, Utah. They met while he was stationed at Lowry Air force base in Denver, Colorado where she attending business school. After he was discharged from the Air Force he returned to the University of Maryland where he changed his major to Pre-Vet Studies. After finishing his undergraduate studies he was accepted to the University of Georgia where he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1961. After graduation they returned to Maryland for a year, they then moved to Aurora, Colorado where he practice for two years. In 1964 they then moved to Orem, Utah. Where he practiced for the State of Utah. Two years later Doc decided to open up his own veterinary practice on State Street in Orem. Where he practiced until 1981 when he retired. Doc was active in the Orem Chamber of Commerce where he served as President for many years. Doc also served as the Commander of the Utah County Search and Rescue for 15 years. Doc loved hunting, boating, fishing and playing golf. Doc is survived by his wife Shirley Yardley Edmonds, Son Danny (Vickie) Edmonds of Salem, Utah, Daughter Linda (Randell) Lee of Spanish Fork, Utah, Son Mark (Shelly) Edmonds of Santaquin, Utah, Son Paul (Susan) Edmonds of Orem, Utah and his Sister Ruth Elizabeth "Betty" Edmonds of Boerne, Texas. Doc has 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Doc was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Daniel Edmonds and great grandson Tyler Johnson. He will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 18th at 1:00 p.m. at the LDS Chapel at 365 South 900 East in Orem, Utah. A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 17th from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Sundberg-Olpin Funeral Home 495 South State Street in Orem, Utah and again from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. prior to the services at the church.
