Cecil Hal Day also known as Hal Day but known to most as simply "Big O" passed away January 9, 2015. His beloved wife Lucille Stevens Day had passed away 1 year and 4 days prior to Hals passing. It was clear to all that he dearly missed Lucille. They will be laid to rest beside each other in the Orem Cemetery 10 AM Saturday January 17th. There will be a viewing to provide an opportunity for friends and family to meet and share stories of his life. The viewing will be at Sundberg-Olpin mortuary at 455 South State Street in Orem January 16th from 6 PM to 8 PM. All Friends of Big O are invited. Hal was born in Castle Gate Utah July 16, 1925, Hal was especially proud of serving his country in the South Pacific in the Navy during World War II. He was injured in an air battle with a kamikaze aircraft for which he received a purple heart. He returned to Provo where he met and married Lucille they lived both in Provo and later moved to Orem. Hal was an active participant in Search and Rescue in Utah County and there are a number of people in the world today that are alive due to his efforts. Hal worked as a machinist at Geneva Steel for over 40 years as well as owned and operated his own machine shop D&D Machine Works. He and Lucille are survived by their three children; Kathy Voutilainen of Seattle, Son Robert of Homer Alaska and Son Larry of North Carolina. Hal and Lucille have numerous Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. Most recently Hal was provided the priviledge of attending the Honor Flight last October when he went to Washington DC and saw the War Memorial. He was most touched by his visit to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. We are sad to lose him, we will all miss Big O
