Carol Jean “CJ” Moses Grant, 95, of Lindon, Utah, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018. She was born October 4, 1923, in Berkeley, CA to Wilford Newton Moses and Carrie Thomas Moses. She married Wallace Barton Grant on September 5, 1944 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.
Carol was an excellent artist in several mediums. She was an accomplished pianist, serving as church organist in 29 Palms, Ca. Carol studied art at Santa Monica Junior College, and worked as a draftsman for North American Aviation during WWII. Her drawing skills led to a future of painting in oils, watercolor, and pastel. She later taught painting to several students, including her 92-year old mother, Carrie Moses.
Carol was athletic as well and was President of the Ski Club during her college years. She loved to dance, and took up tap dancing at age 64, performing with her troupe at several Senior Centers, Rest Homes and Church Events. Always a fun-lover, Carol was an eternal optimist, and always saw the best in everyone she encountered. She cultivated countless lifelong friends, finding and developing new friends everywhere she went.
Carol was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served a mission with her husband Wally in Calgary, Canada.
Carol is survived by three of her four children: Cathy (Ron) Roberts of Simi Valley, CA; Bob (Christy) Grant of Pleasant Grove, UT; and Carrie (Dana Pilarowski) Grant of Arcata, CA; 13 grandchildren; and 25 great children. She was preceded in death by her husband Wallace Grant, daughter Laura Grant and sister Ruth Bell.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, located at 495 S. State St., Orem, Utah. A viewing for friends and family will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 29 and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 30. Burial will be in the Veterans Memorial Park Cemetery, 17111 S. Camp Williams Road, 6 miles south of Riverton, on State Route 68.
