C. LaVar Rockwood completed his mortal challenge on July 23, 2015 He is now moving forward through his faith and beliefs to his eternal existence. LaVar was born on September 6, 1928 in Salt Lake City the first son of Clarence LeRoy Rockwood and Vesta Arilla Eyre Rockwood. His siblings were Diane Rockwood Jackson (Don), Jerry Eyre Rockwood (Kae) and Trulan Van Rockwood (Marian) Much of his youth was spent in the Sugar House area participating in scouting, MIA and developing his physical and social skills. He successfully completed an LDS mission to South Africa which provided structure and guidance for much of his adult life and created strong friendships that lasted a lifetime. He was totally committed to his personal views of faith and his belief in God. He was the confidant, mentor and visionary for two powerful families, He was married to Shirley W. Rockwood which produced Chris Lavar Rockwood, Susan Rockwood Wayment, Robin Rockwood Sessions and Michael Allen Rockwood, 14 grand children and 10 great grand children. He later married Shirley Gilles Rockwood which gave him Cheryl Mecham, Mike Marshall and Bob Marshall 6 grand children and 18 great grand children. His physical presence will be truly missed but his vision, confidence and dedication will live on through all the many lives he touched. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 30, 2015, at 1:00 pm at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State St in Orem, with a viewing from 11 am to 12:45 pm prior to the services at the mortuary. Interment will be in Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
