Brian Roger Holdaway, 50, of West Jordan, Utah, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017. He was born April 30, 1966, in Sterling, Colorado, to Roger Ahrens and Lynda Kaye Moore. He was raised by his late father, Marion Kay Holdaway. Brian married Tina M. Brandt on May 23, 1992, in Provo, Utah.
Brian started his career as a police officer with Midvale City. During his 19 years on the force he did patrol, SWAT, and Metro Gang Unit. He then became a detective which put him in the positon of a school resource officer with Hillcrest High School and later continued as a detective in fraud investigation. When Midvale City was annexed with Unified Police Department, he became a detective with the Special Victim’s Unit where he also worked with ICAC. He did that work, the work he loved, until he died.
He loved music and playing the guitar. He was an avid reader. He enjoyed playing golf with friends and family. He enjoyed long weekend drives with his wife and spending as much time as he could with his family.
Brian is survived by his wife Tina M. Holdaway, his sons Zachary A. Holdaway and Broch D. Holdaway, and his daughter Jacquelyn K. Holdaway. He is also survived by his brother Kregg (Andrea) Holdaway, his sister Tina (Brad) Podany and her children Kylin DeJesus, Kassie Holdaway, Kylea Risinger, and Kaydence Holdaway. His other family members include Roger (Denise) Ahrens, Tina (Clark) Hoyt, Tawnya Ahrens, Jeff Ahrens, and his other nieces and nephews.
Brian touched the lives of everyone he met. He truly believed in helping people whether it was at work or at home. He was very proud of and loved his beautiful wife and children. He made the best of each and every day. He was ready to travel, learn new languages, and enjoy all life had to offer. Although he is gone too soon, he will be in all our hearts forever.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in the Copper Hills High School, 5445 W New Bingham Hwy, West Jordan, UT. Viewings will be held on Friday, February 10 at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State, Orem, UT from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. at the high school prior to the services. Burial will be in the Eastlawn Memorial Hills Cemetery.
