Brent Glenn Rowland, of Provo, Utah, passed away from heart failure on Monday, December 19, 2022. Brent was born on July 17, 1951, in Salt Lake City, to Glenn Rowland and Margaret Irvine. Brent graduated from Provo High School in 1969 and went on to study music for a few years at Utah State University and the University of Utah. When his friend Naidra Lee Van Bloem surprised him by asking “Brent Rowland, will you marry me?” he didn’t miss a beat, responding “You bet I will!” Brent and Naidra were married at Covered Bridge Canyon, UT on May 27, 1978. They were later sealed for eternity in the Salt Lake City Latter-day Saint temple on April 20, 1985. Together they built a wonderful life, filled with many adventures, trials, blessings, and a lot of love. Their greatest joy has come from their four children and 13 grandchildren.
Brent enjoyed travel. As a young adult, he had the opportunity to live in New Zealand with his family and he went on to backpack on his own through Australia and Southeast Asia. He never lost the travel bug and enjoyed many trips with Naidra, his kids, and grandchildren over the years. His family is grateful for all the memories they made as they explored the country and world together. Brent also had an immense love for scouting, especially the life-long friends he made, both old and young, during his time as a scout master. Brent was a talented woodworker, pianist, and chef. But most importantly, we remember his quiet, kind, generous nature. He never liked to stand out in a crowd, but he had a unique ability to reach out to individuals and serve them in very specific, meaningful ways. His love and friendship have left this world a better place for many of us.
Brent is survived by his wife, Naidra; three children--Taryn (Joel), Brendan (Dana), Christopher (Brianna); 13 grandchildren; and father, Glenn. He is preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Dacia; and mother, Margaret.
Services to honor Brent’s life will be held Thursday, December 29, 2022, at 12:30 pm in the Edgemont 8th Ward LDS Chapel located at 3050 Mojave Ln. Provo, UT 84604. Friends and loved ones are invited to greet the family from 10:30 am-12:00 pm. Burial will be at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
